TAKE A HISTORICAL JOURNEY TO THE HEART OF OPERATION OVERLORD, THE GREATEST MILITARY OPERATION OF ALL TIMES.

Ideally situated in the heart of the historical sector of Omaha Beach, close to the American Cemetery - the resting place of several thousands of our liberators - and the D-Day Beaches and only a few kilometres from Arromanches ...

the Overlord Museum Omaha Beach provides many answers with :

  • A chronological layout, starting with the beginnings of the war to the liberation of Paris, illustrated by some twenty scenes of the key stages in Operation Overlord and the Battle of Normandy. A display of mannequins and vehicles, set in reconstituted decors.
  • A rich historical background retracing the events of 1944 that marked the beginning of the liberation of Europe.

  • A "hands-on" approach to history thanks to a rich collection consisting of the smallest personal objects to the largest military vehicles (landing crafts, GMC amphibian DUKW, Allied and German tanks of the Battle of Normandy and reconnaissance aircrafts...).
  • A human approach thanks to the accounts, testimonies and personal effects of veterans and civilians.

Visit our museum; you will take part in passing on the history of Operation Overlord, of the liberation of Europe and the story of men and women who fought for freedom in 1944.

"Unfortunately, you could almost think you had travelled back in history! Luckily, it is a great reminder of our past!"

I visited the museum with my 16 year old son. We found it so interesting, it took us almost 2 hours to see everything! There is plenty to read, plenty to see with authentic vehicles and weapons, fantastic decor, lifelike mannequins and heartrending archive recordings! ++++++

"Fantastic"

After visiting the American cemetery we thought we would stop and visit the museum. On visiting lots of museums in Normandy you generally see the same things and the children start to tell you , but here it was something different , the set ups are fantastic and the children loved it. so much to see and cards to pull out and read with excellent facts about the whole of ww2.
For me it's a must visit museum.
